Sailaway,
It was pontoon with an electric motor never went over 10 mph as it turned out she did not even like puddles of water. She did not like bathes. She did not like the rain. Plain and simple she did like anything wet. But she was a sweetheart.
have you ever had a dog that was dumber than a box of rocks?
i have; his name was dave matthews.
we loved him anyway.

earlier this year it was announced to all congregations that the new silver songbook would ultimately be made of 150 songs, (matching the number of psalms in the bible).
however, they've apparently changed there minds in the last few months, because songs 152-154 were just posted to both jw-org and jw broadcasting.. https://www.jw.org/en/whats-new/.

Old Rugged Cross
Precious Moments
Footprints in the Sand
I left religion in 2000 (Lutheran) I worship every Sunday for 4 hours listening to the sounds of beautiful voices singing praises to God. When I get the chance I will go to the east coast and watch the sunrise during this time and there is no greater uplifting experience.
just finished a walk today i came onto a happy family group of all the generations celebrating a tiny ones birthday.
they all sang ..happy birthday and i sang with my bass baritone the chorus, .."why was she born so beautiful why was she born at all.." silly words but they are happy words.
the family cheered their pleasure at this outsider joining in.
Happy Birthday

Now if there were a good tech savy person that could somehow replace one of those horrid videos with this at one of the conventions.
Just jam the frequency and let it run! Just saying.

We always had big dogs and had just lost one. I told my kids please let's get a smaller dog this time please. We went this puppy so attached itself to my kids and my son says see mom she is so small mom. Do you see the size of those paws?!?! That will not be a small dog! But mom she is small and soooo cute. She only weighs 25 lbs. She was a blonde lab mix, one of the nicest sweetest dogs we ever owned. She grew up to be 115 lbs. Now labs are supposed to like water. We lived on a lake and had a boat. The first time we took her out on the boat she could not wait to get back to shore. When we got close enough to shore she took a flying leap landed on shore took off running to the deck and sat at the sliding glass door. From that point on she would never leave the deck in the back. If she had to go out for a walk you had to go out the front door and she would not venture near the rear of the property near that lake.

Zeb,
I am sure that was one of the lines which earned me the email "Good bye, have a nice life" from the "Elder".

Gayle,
I agree totally the JW kids are getting robbed of their youth and of the experience of finding their talents. This man is fighting for the youth to allow them this right. I bet he also fights for other students besides JW students if they present a need that is being neglected at home.
I was not a teacher but I spend many hours fighting for not only my children's rights but the rights of other children because I LOVE children and want them to be the best that they can be and achieve their goals with as few limitations as possible.
Here is one example I encountered, both of my children had learning disabilities and I fought for IEPS. Both ended up graduating and going on to college. When my daughter was in elementary school we were at the bus stop and I observed a boy for a few days. I then asked his mom if she would mind if I talked to him and she said that was ok. Very intelligent youngster. Her daughter and mine had become friends so I felt comfortable talking to her and asked why her son seemed to not have any friends and how was he doing in school. Just as I suspected. His grades were total fails, no friends and he was listed as a major behavior problem by all the teachers. I asked if she had asked for an IEP and the response was he is just a behavior problem. I told her tomorrow morning when you bring your kids to the bus stop be dressed to go to the school and you and I will go and ask for that IEP. Well we did and with me next to her because they knew I KNEW the LAWS no problem we will start the testing immediately. We attended the first IEP meeting and these people were all falling all over themselves with the apologies.
He has a form of autism, he is very brilliant but has no social skills and cannot handle being in large groups of people. Test scores are off the charts. Normal classroom freaks him out (behavior issue). Talk to him one on one you would think you were talking to someone at least 5 or 6 years older. No one took the time.
JW kids are being deprived of social interaction with their peer level, education, extra curriculum opportunities that are vital for talent, and these absolutely horrid videos are nothing short of the worst case of emotional abuse. Then they go to the KH and get talks about Armageddon and what the .... right and wrong sex talks. Wait a bloody minute --- excuse me so when the next R rated horror movie comes out let's all take our good JW kids to see it can't be any worse then the KH.

For 5 years I spoke to the " Elder " many times a day but he rarely spoke of his beliefs beyond we do not celebrate birthdays and holidays and we do not believe in the cross. Then he gave me the booklet on Families which I found out later was to see how I would react. Please note I knew absolutely nothing about the JWS at this point again nothing.
Many a conversation over the years were about my children's activities in after school programs and their level of service in charity organizations. Also I allowed my children to start making their own decisions once they reached high school with very little input or oversight from mom. My goal was in a couple of years they would be away at college and I would not be there to hold their hands, better to prepare them now for that day.
So when I read the booklet on Families my first reaction was these kids are totally sheltered, given no exposure to the real world, not allowed to make a single decision --- when the Hell are they allowed to grow up and start to experience the real world, when they have their first job. I also blew a gasket about the way women were described in this book.
So over the next few months I gently asked so what is the woman's role. Response. Lol, this man knew from conversations that for well over 40 years I have fought some mighty fine fights for women's rights and taken down a lot of men in that path. So each time I asked: they have their role. Quick new subject brought up and we were talking about our kids or grandkids very rapidly extremely good at subject change!
So I sent him an email with a few of my questions regarding how they raise and educate their children. About two months later I asked if he was going to answer my email. Oh what email is that? The one asking questions about the booklet on Families. Oh I can't seem to find it. I will resend it. A couple months go by. Same thing.
He told me I needed to read the Book of Acts. Then he answered my email with all this we protect our children from all the evils of the world blah blah blah.
Then I caught him in a string of lies and called him on them and said you said read Acts it says meet your accuser eye to eye. But you refuse to meet me?
Every Bible verse I quoted duringour email fight about loving your neighbors, charity work and good deeds provoked him to tell me I did not know how to read the Bible which lead to 20 days of emails full of sermons and Bible verses. Which my best girlfriend who is a high ranking Elder and ordained minister was just rolling her eyes going where is this coming from and what is his point. None of it related to anything we were talking about. He was defending nothing nor answering a single question just off on some tangent somewhere.
No JW do not like to defend their beliefs.
it looks to me as though they are saying don't play at a higher level because your then in competition?
so if i'm correct what if any bible scriptures can be used to back up this anti competitive idea and are there other scriptures showing the opposite?.
Not a JW. I have seen that video, I think the 2 points to that video are he will be associating with worldly thus bad associations and also taking away from the much needed time of serving Jehovah aka GB.
This is precisely why their music they produce is on the scale of high school level because no one has seriously studied music. OH, that is right that would be in one of those after school extra curriculum programs. Bad associations.
Rant over.
recent experiences on here about cart witnessing when an ex jw engages them in discussion , it`s not long usually before the jw excuses themselves packs up and moves on .. if they really believed they have the "truth" they should be confident enough to win their argument/discussion.and stand their ground.. obviously they aren`t.. if we believe the bible jesus and his apostles never shied away from talking to / engaging in discussions with the jewish religious leaders of the day.?.
not so with jehovah`s witnesses they are instructed not to engage with ex jw`s , people who know what jw`s believe inside out.and can effectively refute their arguments.and point to their failures.. if their faith is that shallow that talking to an ex jw will weaken their own faith , then they really do not have a very strong foundation of their own faith do they.. smiddy.
Oh, mention a court case or two that they have lost and that is just apostate lies.
